The Magic of a Tulle Skirt

Ladies, can we agree that wearing a tulle skirt makes you feel like a princess? If you’re being honest with your inner child, you know it does… and you may even be caught twirling in it a time or two. HA!

I used to think there was never the right event or moment I would ever have use for a tulle skirt, and then Pinterest happened. Different views and ideas on how to style these skirts. 1k pins later… it opened up a whole new world for me!

All I can is that I’m glad I was brave enough to go through with it because I LOVE my stunning tulle skirt.

This particular skirt comes from the darling shop C’est Ca New York  and honestly the quality is quite good. I remember ordering a random tulle skirt a few years ago from one of those shops overseas, won’t mention any names, but the quality was horrid and not flattering whatsoever. I was nervous when this skirt arrived. I had flashbacks of cheap material and a limp skirt that didn’t resemble what I had ordered. I’m happy to report I was pleasantly surprised!

I love the bounce in the skirt, and it’s so thick and plush, you can tangibly feel the quality. For the product you get with these skirts, the price is completely affordable. I love the length and style of my tulle skirt not too short, not too long… but then again, I may go shorter in the future for fun 🙂

Hopefully this skirt has inspired you to add a little magic into your wardrobe, you really only live once ya know… make it count!

One Ingredient 3 Ways!

This post is sponsored by ALDI . All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Raise your hand if you have a slight obsession with all things avocado. If for some reason, your answer to that was no (you’re missing out) please stick around and let me show you the way! 🙂

So, I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but the magic of the avocado fruit is pretty unique. It can be used in so many different ways and provide a multiple array of tastes to your all time favorites. Like for example; did you know you could use avocado’s to make chocolate mousse?? If you’re not a foodie, you’re probably super confused or thinking there’s just no way that could taste right. I promise you, it does. Might even taste better!

The other day when I picked up a few essentials at ALDI. I made sure to grab fresh avocados for dinner… I didn’t know if avocados would work in a gyro, but they did and I was SOO excited about it.

#1 Avocado’s in a Gyro

Talk about savory, guys! This was my very first time making these gyros and they were incredible. Not trying to pat myself on the back, but WHOA. I knew once I had the hubs and the kiddos approval, I was onto something decent. Even though the avocado’s may only be an enhancing element in this dish, it made all the difference! I mean, when is the last time you ate a gyro with diced avocado’s?? Right! This needs to be explored, ha!

and because it’s been said that gyro’s pair well with Cabernet Sauvignon, I had to grab a yummy glass of the award-winning 30 Miles Cabernet Sauvignon from ALDI

GYRO recipe:

  • 1/3 cup SimplyNature organic extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon SimplyNature organic dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon Stonemill paprika
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 cup Friendly Farms plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 diced avocado
  • 1 onion, sliced into 1/2-inch-thick rounds
  • 1 pound skirt steak
  • 4 Specially Selected naan bread slices
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • Feta Cheese to liking

Preheat a grill to medium high. Make the marinade: Whisk the olive oil, garlic, oregano, paprika, 1 teaspoon salt, and pepper to taste in a large bowl. Transfer 1 tablespoon of the marinade to a small bowl; mix in the yogurt and 2 tablespoons water. Add onion to the bowl with the remaining marinade and toss; remove to a plate with a slotted spoon. Add the steak to the bowl and toss.

Grill the onion and steak, turning once, until lightly charred, about 4 to 8 minutes per side for the steak (depending on the thickness). Set aside to rest, about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, grill the naan flatbread until marked, about 1 minute per side.

Slice the steak against the grain. Fill the flatbreads with the steak, onions, tomatoes and diced avocados. Drizzle with the yogurt sauce.

Total :35 min

Active: 10 min

Yield: Serves 4

So yummy, you need to make this for dinner asap!

#2 Egg + Avocado Bake

This recipe is for sure a breakfast staple for us all! It’s packed with protein and vitamins. You just can’t go wrong with that, guys!

FullSizeRender (2)

and really, it’s pretty to look at too 🙂 By the way, all of these delicious ingredients were found at ALDI

  • 1 Avocado
  • 2 SimplyNature organic cafe free eggs
  • Pinch of sea salt & pepper
  • 1 diced tomato
  • Happy Farms Preffered feta crumbles
  1. Cut the avocado in half and remove the pit.
  2. Scoop out some avocado from the center to make room for the egg.
  3. Break an egg into the center of each half avocado (don’t worry if some of the white spills out as long as the yolk is intact).
  4. Bake in oven at 400 degrees for about 10-15 minutes until whites are set and yolk is runny.
  5. Add seasoning and toppings

How simple is this dish?? Super yummy too, give it a try some time!

#3 Chocolate Mousse w/ Avocado

This one is the stunner. The unicorn. How in the world can an avocado be used to make a delicious chocolate mousse? Well, despite the doubts you may have (if you’ve never tried it) it can be quite amazing!

FullSizeRender (3)

You guys, the only disclaimer for this recipe is that it can be completely addicting… you may not be able to stop consuming 🙂

  • 1/2 cup Baker’s Corner semisweet chocolate chips
  • 4 very ripe (8 ounce) avocados peeled and pitted
  • 1/2 cup SimplyNature organic light agave nectar
  • 1/2 cup Baker’s Corner baking cocoa
  • 1 tablespoon Stonemill pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine salt

Place the chocolate chips in a small bowl. Place over a small saucepan of barely simmering water. Stir until the chocolate is melted and smooth, about 3 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.

Place the melted chocolate, avocados, agave, cocoa powder, vanilla and salt in a food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy, scraping the sides of the bowl as needed. Spoon into glasses and refrigerate for at least 3 hours (can be prepared 1 day in advance).

Total: 3 hr 15 min

Active:10 min

Yield: four 3/4 cup servings or six 1/2 cup servings

There you go friends, three very different ways I use my favorite super food Avocado. I really hope you enjoy these recipes and try them out for yourselves. Make sure to stop by your local ALDI to check out their fresh produce and other delicious goodies that you just can’t be without!

Getting cozy with Burrow

This blog post is sponsored by Burrow. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m just going to put it out there… I keep buying the wrong kind of furniture for our family. Over and over again. It’s either too stylish and not practical. Too cheap practical and not enough style. For whatever the reason, I can’t seem to get it right and its SO frustrating.

One random day when I was perusing through the endless suggestions of my Instagram ‘explore’ page. I came across this very stylish feed. I forget now who the account belonged to, the only thing I can remember is that she had a great sofa. It looked super comfortable with the kind of design I was after. Thank goodness she shared the product link because it led me back to BURROW! Want to take a peek at the sofa before I go on? 🙂

Isn’t she a beaut?! I am the biggest midmod fan and I loved the retro vibe of this sofa. Another thing too, it didn’t look as stiff as other modern century sofa’s appear to be. I wasn’t sure though. I buried (haha, get what I did there??) myself in that site and researched this product to see if there was anything that stood apart from other places.

What I found when I was lurking researching this brand, is that they have a very honest vision and unique design that is pretty stellar in my opinion.

One neat feature (there are so many) of this sofa is that you can customize the frame into a sofa chair, love seat, or a very comfy large couch. Also, the variety of colors are just soo gorgeous!

Ok, now onto my FAVORITE feature on this sofa… I’ve been dying to tell you guys about it since I started this post but you know, the element of surprise and all 🙂

There is a hidden charging port underneath the couch. I KNOW, freaking cool!

Complete with USB and three prong outlets. It. Is. A. Dream. If this sofa wasn’t already the coolest kid on the block, this goodness, sealed the deal! I’m pretty sure the only issue with this feature is that Tim is constantly removing the charging port and taking it throughout the house, to use in other rooms too, UGH. 🙂

Designed, crafted, and shipped by us.

We work directly with all of our factories, which means we’re able to ensure the integrity of the entire production process. And by skipping retailers and shipping directly to you, we remove the industry standard markup, and even include the cost of shipping.

I am such a big fan of what this company is doing and how they’ve designed a great product at such an affordable price.

Oh and did I mention it ships in separate boxes?? For those of you in smaller spaces, or wanting to carry it upstairs, this is fantastic news. You don’t have to break your back, yay!! Super easy to assemble and when in doubt, there’s an incredibly helpful video to follow in the set up process.

Because I want to sweeten up your Friday, my buddy who works over at Burrow, gave me the inside scoop on a $50 promo code (if you’re in the market) COZY102, enjoy!!

Happy Friday, cheers to the weekend!

Mommy + Me Minnetonka’s please!

This post is sponsored by Minnetonka. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I have every justification to twin with my daughter!
It’s kind of our jam, anyway. Among the countless matching outfits/ shoes we share, Minnetonka  sandals has to be one of the top favorites. We have a thing for fringe, people!

Is this girl for real?! Where did all this style and attitude come from? If you could only see the fits she throws when she doesn’t have the right hat to match her outfits. I mean, heck yes, I’m proud that she doesn’t want to look like a ragamuffin all the time, but I get a little freaked at the wardrobe meltdowns I’ve had to witness. I might have created a little fashion monster… whoops.

Ok, so tell me the fringe on these isn’t the best! They’re so fun (and comfortable).

These little moments with her are the ones I want to remember. Frolicking through a rose garden, spinning in circles until we’re so dizzy we can’t stand straight. Matching our shoes because she thinks it’s the greatest thing ever to wear the same thing as ‘momma’.

And even though these pictures may look ‘perfect’ I’m not trying to paint a false image of motherhood here. I have had SO many gut wrenching moments when I just feel that I suck at this mom gig. Feeling insecure about ever getting it right. However, I’m not a big fan of simmering in the ‘whoa is me, this is too hard’, ‘This phase is just too crazy’, complaining session. Honestly, there’s not a super mom complex going on around here, I just try to look at the gifts we have, and know we’re blessed to have them. Also, it literally just takes us going outside to make a horrible day, better, haha. That’s my big mom secret, don’t ever say I didn’t give ya anything 😉

But back to the shoes… HA!

Are you itching to know the details on these sandals already?! Here you go:

Mommy Me
You really can’t beat the style and quality  you get for the incredibly affordable price, guys. I mean that, I have been a fan of Minnetonka shoes, forever! I still use my moccasins, boots, etc… they have lasted for years and still look brand new.

Hopefully you’ve gathered a little inspiration for your next mommy + me adventure with your little one, but really, where to find some great sandals!

Follow Minnetonka on Instagram for their latest styles!

And if you want to keep up with our fashion meltdowns (HA) be sure to stay connected

Top 5 ALDI Must Haves

Top 5 ALDI Must Haves

This post is sponsored by ALDI. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

HELLO guys! All caps ‘hello’ because I’m feeling extra giddy about the delicious goodies I picked up at ALDI recently. Also, I need to tell you about my experience there, since I’ve never shopped at this grocery store before.

Right off the bat, I knew there was something unique about this grocery store, and not a weird kind of different, more like a ‘I’m really going to love this place’, different. I inserted my .25 cents into the slot, and took off with my cart (like I had done it for years, might I add, ha!). It’s a super easy way to save you money by cutting unnecessary store costs.

Walking into ALDI was that feeling a child gets when filling up their goodie bag at a candy store. Not. Even. Kidding. Right away I noticed the plethora of organic produce, the crazy affordable prices. I actually read the fine print on the labels to make sure I wasn’t reading the price wrong, haha, total newb!

I could see why the place was busy with customers. I just wish I had known about this place sooner!

Sooo, I came up with a small list of favorites that I thought you all might enjoy. I can’t help myself, guys, when I really love something, it’s just natural and effortless to pass along the information. So, in advance, you’re welcome! Because I KNOW you’ll flip for these goodies too.

So, this is only about a tenth of what was in my cart, but they quickly became essentials when prepping meals!

The bread, the greens, and wine to go with my cheese… the motto of life, friends! Ha! Here are the five that made the top tier of favorites:

This delicious 30 Miles Cabernet Sauvignon is the perfect, award-winning (!) red to accompany any meal, snack, dessert, what-evs! It’s so yummy! You would NOT believe the price, either! Completely affordable.

For the greens, these guys are my staple super foods. I literally find a way to add spinach and avocados into every meal. I’m not even joking. You can find these in my smoothies, dips, breakfast, anything and everything. I just made the MOST mouthwatering gyros and I found a way to incorporate these greens. Stay tuned because I have a blog post dedicated to that recipe. Soo good!

I saved the VERY best for last because they need all of your special attention 🙂

                                                       Say cheese!!

Ok, so first of all, I need to say, I have never enjoyed the taste of goat cheese. I know, I must be some kind of weirdo, but it’s true. It never really did it for me. I am a lover of all cheeses and have never come across a kind that I didn’t like, so it’s always bothered me that goat cheese hasn’t had much involvement in my life. HA! This changed after I tried Happy Farms Preferred goat cheese!! Ahh! I freaked a little. I tasted it over and over to make sure I wasn’t imagining it, just to make sure I was really getting a good mouthful. Guys, it’s soooo delicious. It has a cream cheese texture and I used it in making a sauce for the gyros. It was finger licking kind of good.

And Manchego, well that’s a no brainer! I use Manchego shavings over salads, pasta, baked egg in avocados. It’s just a very friendly cheese and melts well… so delicious in quesadillas!

Ok, so I know this is a top five list but this is an extra bonus item that I just couldn’t leave out 🙂

Can I just say that Naan flatbread is a gift from above?! Because it is. Really. What can’t I make with this?? I use this to make pizza’s, sandwiches, just recently, gyros. It’s just the greatest. Keep this in your bread box, it’s a definite must have!

There you have it guys! My top 5 ALDI favorites! Get to your nearest ALDI asap, it will change your grocery shopping experience! The quality of food and the affordable prices are worth your time. Happy shopping!!

Urban Walls

As promised, another post dedicated to sprucing up your space! So you guys know I’m slightly obsessed with peel and stick wallpaper. I found it’s fantastic counterpart, peel and stick decals!

Back in December we decided to do some minor improvements in Avenleigh’s room. I knew I wanted it to feel less toddler and more big girl, without an invasive approach… I just didn’t know what I was going to do about it. New furniture, new paint? All of that sounded like such a drag… well the painting part DEFINITELY did. Then I remembered my old time favorite spot for rad decals Urban Walls I decided to take a peek around the shop and see what new items popped up. Then I saw them…

These pretty babes

These gorgeous Graphic flower clusters were EXACTLY what her room needed. That and a little dress up area, total score. They couldn’t be easier to adhere to the wall. It seriously took me about 30 minutes to get two walls done in her room. It was the quickest and best face lift I’ve done in our kids rooms.

What’s fun about these clusters is that you can arrange them in any way you’d like. Spread them out, keep them close, totally up to you.

Aren’t these beautiful?? There are also three color schemes to choose from… you can go with the coral/teal/orange, like I chose here. Or pink/white as well as lavender/lilac. ALL gorgeous.

She totally flipped when she saw her room, and fell in love with her ‘big flowers’ as she calls them.
If you’re as obsessed with flowers like I am, check out these stunning Peony decals they have!! (You’re welcome 😌)
Do yourself a favor and check out this fun site, I promise you’ll fall in love with a few things on your visit!
Happy Monday!

Shelfology Make-over

Guys, our pitiful kitchen shelves FINALLY got a make-over! I’ve always loved the whole, exposed shelving vibe… but we had done it all kinds of wrong. We bought the wrong types of brackets, wrong kind of wood, it was a disaster from the very beginning. It looked decent for a couple of months until the cringe worthy warping, began. It was slight, but it bothered me to no end. If you don’t believe me, take a look for yourself.

You can really tell on that top shelf, it was like this sinking situation, dead center.

In any case, this was NOT my favorite corner in our kitchen and definitely the least photographed, ha!

But… there is a hero to this story, and I can’t wait to tell you about this amazing product! I’m raising my hands in praise, just sayin’.

A few weeks ago, I was introduced to Shelfology and I very quickly became obsessed with their shelving and their method of securing them to the wall. These beasts of brackets can hold so much weight, and it’s wonderful because the shelves are incredibly solid and sturdy.

We opted for the floating brackets, because yes. How gorgeous are floating shelves?! They’re also very easy to install.

Aren’t these gorgeous, guys?! Oh I also added a little distressed wallpaper because I love wallpaper. It’s a thing. Don’t judge.

So are you ready to see how rad these shelves look when they’re all set up? I’m sooo happy with the final look.

Such a huge difference! You guys need to run and check out Shelfology these beautifully designed shelves will make any space look a thousand percent improved.

[If you’re digging the home improvement posts, I have a fun urban walls post coming soon!]
Happy Thursday!
