Spider-Verse Family Costumes for Halloween

To know our family is to understand how much we live for a family themed costume. Each year we plan months in advance and slowly gather components to make our vision come to life.

Earlier this year, in June, our family watched Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse. I’m going to be honest, while I love Marvel, I had very low expectations for the film because I couldn’t get into the animation version, and also, I had never seen the first film. I felt like I was starting in reverse and just wouldn’t enjoy it as much, but hey, the rest of my family was so stoked to see it, I was down for it.

When we left the theater, all I could talk about was how AMAZING the storyline was. I was hooked! Even had a chance to chat about it, real time, with my dear friend Ramona Cruz-Peters of FabEveryday. We are BIG comic/ sci-fi fans, ha! During that chat we talked about how fun it would be if we did some type of collaborative Spider-Verse costumes theme for both of our families since her family was already planning on doing so.

So here we are! My fam decided to combine a hybrid of characters from both ‘Into the Spider-Verse’ and ‘Across the Spider-Verse’. The beauty of Spider-Verse costumes has to be in the versatility. There are tons of options to explore when choosing your character!

First up, the adorable Peni Parker Cosplay from ‘Into the Spider-Verse’

The Peni Parker costume was so easy to put together! While some components are not exactly the same, like the red trim details on the vest and socks, I think it turned out great. We had some fun adding details to Peni’s backpack. I was so excited I found a bag that was close enough in color and size to the characters. I used a peel and stick felt sheet to cut out shapes and stick to the backpack. It was the least permanent option that wouldn’t damage the bag and still look great. Plus, these are all pieces my daughter wants to use in her wardrobe once Halloween is over.

These are the items I purchased to build this Peni Parker costume. Items not linked were pieces we had available at home:

Sweater Vest

Plaid Pleated Skirt

Tube Socks

Backpack

Up next- Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099 Costume

When my son tried this Miguel O’Hara costume, all I could think was how we nailed this look. The hair!! This bodysuit DOES come with a full head mask, however, we didn’t want to cover up the great hair, ha.

Everyone loves a good villain and so do I…

The Spot (Spider-Verse Spot costume)

Super comfy costume according to my son! 10/10

Mary Jane Watson and Peter B. Parker costume

This Mary Jane Watson look is from the film ‘Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse’. I’ll admit, I had to work on the wig quite a bit. It wasn’t as advertised. For starters, It was a few inches shorter than it was supposed to be but with a little brushing and trimming of the bangs, I think it turned out pretty good.

This Peter B. Parker costume/ Spider-Man suit was perfect, pro tip, the zipper goes on the back (hahaha- iykyk)

The Peter B Parker cosplay and Spider Baby Halloween Costume look from ‘Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse is my absolute favorite. Since our little guy was born last month, it was the perfect way to incorporate his baby carrier effortlessly into the costume. I’m obsessed with those two!
