The Road To (Arhaus) Recliners

Full disclosure: If you love the traditional recliner style, this post is not for you! With that out of the way, I have to say, recliners have never been my favorite type of furniture. To be fair, the ones I remember always seemed bulky, dark, and outdated.

As it turns out, my hubby has a completely different opinion on recliners. He LOVES them all! When we first got married (13 years ago), I remember going to the furniture store to pick out new pieces for our house. He was stuck on having a recliner in our home. I agreed (kicking and screaming, ha) and brought that monstrous chair into the house. After a few (VERY long) months of having it, we both felt like it was just too big for our open floor plan space. We ended up moving it upstairs, and by “we” I mean me, ha. One day when Tim was at work, I took the chair apart and dragged that beast upstairs to our loft space. Guess what? It looked horrible up there too! The day finally came when we asked a friend if he wanted it.

Years went by and Tim had never let go of the idea of having a recliner. Anytime he saw one, he would hint at getting one. I felt that wifey guilt, knowing after so long he was still holding out hope. I was open to looking for one that fit our home and aesthetic. Honestly, up until recently, we didn’t have any luck!

Fast forward to January 2020 (whoa), I was browsing the Arhaus site. I get the itch to redecorate our house during that time of year, every year. Only this time I didn’t have that laser focused vision on which room in the house we were going to change up. I asked Tim what he thought we should work on; outdoor furniture, new china cabinet, etc… He piped up and said “RECLINERS!” Honestly, I could not believe he brought them up again! I thought maybe we had left that in the past, ha. I wasn’t sure if Arhaus even had recliners because I had not seen them on their site before but I decided to search for them anyway. You guys, I could NOT believe that they had recliners. Not just any recliners, they had ones that looked like stylish lounge chairs! I was in heaven! That’s definitely a look I can get on board with, and I did. We finally had found a chair that was comfy, reclined, looked beautiful, and was compact enough to fit in our space! Special bonus is that this recliner is electric. You can adjust the angle of the reclined position! AMAZING.

I was so stoked that I ordered two! Now we have his + hers recliners. I never would have thought this would have been me but here we are, ha. Let me tell you, its the most sought out piece of furniture in our home. EVERYONE wants a turn in the chairs. Our kids fight over it! We just love them.
