Patriotic Desserts
If you’re like me, there’s always a reason to celebrate with a fun dessert! I love to host and entertain because it just floats my boat, ok…
Here are some of my favorite patriotic desserts that are perfect for Memorial Day weekend gatherings or 4th of July parties. Let me know what you think and definitely share if you give it a try!
Red, White, & Blue Jello Cups

What you’ll need:
1 packet of blue raspberry jello mix
1 packet of cherry jello mix
1 packet of Knox gelatin
1/2 cup condensed milk
A cup of fresh cherries
Cool whip
Patriotic sprinkles
How to make it:
Add one cup of boiling hot water and a cup of cold water to the blue raspberry mix. Stir until we’ll blended and add first layer to your cups. Allow for jello to harden in refrigerator a bit before moving onto the next step. I waited around 20 minutes for each layer to firm up.
For center (white) layer add a cup of boiling hot water to one packet of Knox gelatin until dissolved. Allow to cool and pour in 1/2 cup of condensed milk. Stack over the blue layer, same amount to create even layers. Place in refrigerator and allow to firm.
For the last (red) layer, repeat the steps for the first layer. Pour over the white layer in cup and allow to firm for a few hours.
Once jello cups are completely firm, add a dollop of cool whip, patriotic sprinkles and fresh cherry as garnish.
“Stars & Stripes” Pie

What you’ll need:
Pillsbury Pie Crust (2 sheets)
I can blueberry filling
1 can cherry filling
Half cup fresh blueberries
Star cookie cutter
Knife or pastry cutter
Egg wash (1 egg/ 1 tsp water mixed)
How to make it:
Preheat oven to 375.
Take one sheet of dough and place in 9 inch round pie dish. Fill one half with blueberry filling and the other with cherry filling. Add fresh blueberries over top of the blueberry filling and set aside.
Roll out second pie sheet and cut out about 3 to 4 star shapes and 3 to 4 stripes with knife or pastry cutter.
Place shapes over top of filling to symbolize an American flag. Lightly brush dough with egg wash. Place in oven and bake 18-20 minutes.
Tie-Dye “Bom Pop” Drink

What you’ll need:
Red layer- a mix of grenadine + sprite
White layer- piña colada slushy blend
Blue layer- blue raspberry lemonade
How to make it:
Mix red layer to your preference. Make white layer according to piña colada cocktail mix instructions. I made mine kid friendly/ no alcohol. Make blue layer according to kool-aid packet mix instructions.
Add layers in this order: red/ white/ blue. Insert a swizzle stick and give a light swirl to create tie-dye effect.
