Quarantined. Now What?

We’re working on remodeling my closet this week. I can almost hear angels singing in the background! Honestly, aside from experiencing Disney with three children under the age of 5 (years ago), NOTHING has given me greater anxiety in life than looking through my closet.

I’ll save that remodel for another blog post. Ha! Today I actually wanted to talk about cute outfits and the grief surrounding that topic. I know, doesn’t feel relevant to us right now. I get it. At the same time, doesn’t it make you feel bummed not being able to wear something fun and go out? That suddenly essential shopping becomes the highlight of your week (or is that just me)?

That’s the grief I’m talking about. Let’s address it. It’s ok to feel what you’re feeling. You’re not being insensitive. A big part of our lives has ended for the time being. Come to an alarming halt. It’s absolutely normal for you to mourn that loss. Not to mention all of the other feelings attached to this new normal.

I know there are much bigger concerns for all of us these days… but let’s focus on what we CAN control. Hope can do so much for our souls. Looking to the future can be a healthy outlet to some of the stress you may be feeling. So, planning out those summer outfits, not the worst thing you could do 🙂

Isn’t looking forward to the fun times part of the excitement of life? Not to drag Disney back into the conversation, but half of the excitement of going to Disney is the anticipation of what’s to come!

That’s how I’m relating to cute outfits and online shopping at this time. I KNOW a time of celebration is in our future. I’m hopeful for those sweet moments to enjoy a freedom like we once had. So why not plan accordingly? I will say THIS, stores are maxing out with sales lately, so if there was ever a time to shop (and show support), this is it.

Also, if on line shopping isn’t practical for you during this time, go through your current wardrobe! Taking everything out of my closet has allowed me to find pieces I had completely forgotten about. It’s been fun giving them “new life” by pairing them with newer styles I had acquired right before this time. Anyone can do this from home, and it’s pretty therapeutic!

So, here are some fun pieces I’m saving for a sunny day. I’ve added links to the images if you’re interested in these exact styles.

Remember to keep practicing safe social distancing. Stay home if you don’t need to be out. Keep socially connected to those loved ones. Send a text, join a zoom call. Dance, sleep, read your bible.

Stay safe you guys!

XOXO, terri
