Ocean City Maryland

Our family decided take a weekend trip out to Ocean City, Maryland earlier this October and let me tell you, it was the best decision ever!

While we’ve visited Maryland before, we have never traveled to this part of the state. When we first arrived, we made a pit stop at the Bad Monkey.

We tried some yummy truffle fries, their famous monkey bread dessert, and other goodies. Definitely add this restaurant to the list of places to check out while you’re there.

After lunch we drove up to the Ocean City Life-Saving Museum. It serves as an historic building displaying Ocean City’s past & the history of the U.S. Life-Saving Service.

It’s located at the southernmost end of Ocean City’s famed Boardwalk and has amazing views of the Inlet and of Assateague Island.

It’s a great spot to take a stroll, snap some pics, grab ice cream and pop into some local shops.

It was such a fun museum! We learned quite a bit about the history of Ocean City, saw seahorses, and so much more.

After the museum we headed to our hotel for an early check in. When I tell you this hotel took our breath away, it totally did. The Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Ocean City is spectacular! Clear view of the ocean right from our balcony. Our room was incredibly spacious with a living room/ dining area, full kitchen, bathroom with waterfall shower head, naked tub in the master bedroom and sit down balcony area. Just amazing!

For dinner we hit up a local favorite, Fish Tales, for some fresh seafood and entertaining atmosphere.

The next day we did some exploring in the town of Berlin and accidentally joined in the Oktoberfest celebration, ha. It was AWESOME! Live music, delicious food, antique malls, and my kids favorite; the World of Toys store. Berlin, was “Named America’s Coolest Small Town” in by USA Today, for fall fun! We absolutely loved our time there.

We followed up this fun afternoon with an evening of family painting at T.C. Studios! This was the first time any of us took an art class of this sort and it was soo fun. We all took home our masterpieces and had a blast painting together. The art instructor was so helpful and was great and moderating our progress on the canvas.

After a very busy day at Oktoberfest and family painting night, we treated ourselves to THE most incredible dinner at Longboard. The atmosphere alone was stunning! The service was top notch and our meals were delicious. If you stop in, be sure to order the seafood pasta, so yummy!

For our final day, we hit up the Ocean City Boardwalk and rented the “bus” bike from Bike World for an hour ride down the strip.

We shopped at the local shops, grabbed some souvenirs and treats from Candy Kitchen.

On our way back home, we stopped and paid a visit to Assateague State Park. All I have to say is whoa, what a beautiful location. This 37-mile long barrier island is famous for its beautiful beaches, wild horses and abundant birds.

Only 10 minutes into our drive inside the park and I had to pull over because we saw a family of wild horses grazing on the side of the road. So magical!

All in all, our fall visit to Ocean City, Maryland was so special. Ocean city is a great destination all year round. Whether you’re taking a girls trip, celebrating a birthday/ anniversary, or wanting to get away for a quick family weekend, it’s the city to visit. So much to do and take in! Be sure to add it to the list of must see places!

XOXO, terri
