Stuffed Crescent Roll “Carrots”

Need a last minute idea for Easter brunch? I got ya! This one is really cute and looks like you spent hours making it.

Let’s jump right in!

What you’ll need for crescent rolls …

• 3-4 packs of crescent rolls

• about 6-8 sheets of aluminum foil

• 1 egg

• 1 tsp water

• 1 tsp smoked paprika

What you’ll need for filling….

• your favorite side dish filling, ie: chicken salad, egg salad

• 6-8 sprigs of your favorite leafy herb.

How to make it…

Grab those aluminum sheets and let’s see how good you are at making a cone shape 🙂

Take each individual sheet of aluminum foil, big enough to shape out a small cone. Begin to fold into a cone. I started out from the corner and folded toward the center in a cylinder motion.

Please watch video for tutorial

Preheat oven to 375

Once you have shaped out 6-8 cones, set aside. Pop open your crescent roll can. Not all at the same time! This is an as you go process, depending on how many you would like to make. Take out the entire roll of dough and unfold into one sheet. DO NOT pull at the perforated edges. Try to keep the sheet intact as best you can. Once unfolded into a sheet, take a pizza cutter and begin to slice strips, about 1/2 inch in thickness. Be sure to slice strips the long way so you can have longer pieces. See video for reference.

Take your strips, one at at time, and begin to wrap over an aluminum cone. Start at the tip and work your way up. Use strips as needed. Try not to overlap them as that will create a bubble effect. Just lay strips beside each other. You will encounter some separation from the perforated edges on dough, but don’t worry. You can press down or push strip against the other and “patch” it up with your fingers. Once it bakes, it won’t be seen!

Whisk together egg, water, and paprika in a small bowl. Lather this egg wash over crescent roll. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden, and let cool.

Once rolls and aluminum is cool to the tough, carefully remove aluminum cone from each crescent roll. Tread with caution, haha. Should slide out fairly easily but you don’t want to pull too hard and accidentally tear apart your roll.

Fill your crescent roll with your favorite side dish and top with a leafy herb to resemble a carrot stem. That’s it! Now you have a very fun and delicious snack to share on your table!

Let me know if you give it a try!

XOXO, terri
