A Weekend of Celebration at The Omni Homestead Resort
15th Birthdays, Mother’s Day & Memories to Last a Lifetime
This past weekend, we packed our bags and headed to one of our favorite Virginia destinations—The Omni Homestead Resort—for a special double celebration: our son’s 15th birthday and Mother’s Day. Nestled in the Allegheny Mountains, The Omni Homestead offered the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable family time.
Minecraft Surprises & Family Fun
When we arrived, we were greeted with the sweetest surprise: a Minecraft-themed suite, decked out just for our birthday boy AND the most delicious birthday cake waiting for him at dinner. It was such a thoughtful touch and set the tone for the whole weekend. We kicked things off with some fun around the resort, including giant lawn games like chess and cornhole—simple, screen-free fun that got all of us laughing and playing together.
Equestrian Adventures & Waterfall Hikes
One of the highlights of our trip was a scenic carriage ride at the equestrian center, a charming way to take in the natural beauty of the property. We also experienced the resort’s signature Cascade Gorge Hike, led by Brian, an incredible naturalist who taught us about the unique flora, fauna, and history of the region. The 1.8-mile trail winds past 13 stunning waterfalls through a semi-tropical mountain gorge—it was absolutely breathtaking and one of the most memorable hikes we’ve ever done.
Wining, Dining & Pampering
Mother’s Day was extra special this year. My mom and I enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at The Virginia Wine Experience, sipping curated wine flights and learning about Virginia’s rich winemaking history. It was a perfect mix of elegance and education. Later, I snuck away to relax at the Serenity Garden Pool, a spring-fed, outdoor spa pool where you can swim year-round.
We dined like royalty all weekend with delicious meals at Jefferson’s, the Audubon Dining Room, Martha’s Market, and Woody’s—each offering something unique, whether it was a cozy breakfast or a more refined dinner experience.
There were sweet surprises sprinkled throughout the weekend—including a beautiful Mother’s Day bouquet delivered to our room and a delicious Mother’s Day brunch on our final morning, shared with my mom and family. These thoughtful touches truly made the experience feel so personalized and memorable.
A Soak in History
The pinnacle of our stay was our visit to the Warm Springs Pools—historic, lantern-lit bathhouses dating back to the 1800s. We soaked in the warm, mineral-rich waters. It was pure magic and such a luxurious way to unwind and reflect on a weekend full of love and laughter.
