Easy Homemade Crumpets
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from our past two spring breaks in London, it’s that a proper crumpet with clotted cream and jam is elite. Since we won’t be hopping across the pond this spring, I’m bringing a little British magic to the kitchen instead!
These homemade crumpets are golden, fluffy, and surprisingly easy to make. You don’t need any fancy ingredients—just a little patience while the batter does its thing. Trust me, the result is so worth it.

What You’ll Need…
• 1 cup + 1/8 cup flour
• 1 cup warm water
• ½ tsp sugar
• ½ tsp salt
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 2 ¼ tsp fast-acting yeast
• 1 tbsp water (for dissolving yeast)
How to Make It…
1. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
2. Pour in a cup of warm water and whisk until smooth.
3. Dissolve the yeast in 1 tablespoon of water, then add it to the batter.
4. Cover and let it sit in a warm place for 30 minutes (cue the tea break).
5. Heat a skillet over medium, coat it with butter, and grease your crumpet rings.
6. Pour the batter into the rings about halfway full. Cook for 4-5 minutes until bubbly and golden.
That’s it! Slather on some butter, maybe a little jam (or honey if you’re feeling wild), and enjoy your homemade taste of England. Cheers! 🇬🇧✨
XOXO, terri
